After securing rank in UPSC Civil Services, I got number of mails, messages on my Facebook profile asking for the guidance. I talked with all of them personally, shared my strategy, study material et.al. All the selected candidates were felicitated in various functions. I could feel the change in attitude of the people towards me.
But all these happy moments ironically troubled me a lot. Because this result day reminded me of last year's result day as this was my second attempt for the exam. Last year I reached upto the final stage of personality test but couldn't make through. Nobody asked me anything then. Nobody was interested in me. I was not really seeking for anyone's attention either. But the apathetic attitude was vividly seen.
This triggered a bigger question in my mind. Are we interested in only successful people? Do we care only for victorious? Because I can certainly say that even last year I was capable enough, rather every serious aspirant is ! Probably last year I was in better position to guide because I knew what not to do.
I believe that along with the famous so called 'success stories', let's not forget the failure stories also. In different sectors of life, we can learn a lot from someone who has failed in conventional terms. Because success is not just something that is visible. You fail somewhere and you will learn more. It is highly probable that success makes you complacent, lethargic. But failure will teach you a lot and you will be a better person. So I believe that majority of the problems world is facing can be solved if we give platform for those who have failed .
