Teachers they are..

While preparing for civil services, I also started teaching subjects like Political Science, Economy among others, in few institutions. While teaching, I myself become a better person and learn a lot and I make a decent money through it as well. The kind of bond with students, love from students are some extra benefits.

But in UPSC circle I'm observing very disturbing trend these days. Unlike in other faculties, generally in UPSC civil services coaching institutes, students who have been successful or well prepared seniors teach the new aspirants. But unfortunately the new aspirants these days have become very rude towards their teachers.

One is certainly entitled to comment about teacher's way of teaching, his/her knowledge. But bluntly saying that the teacher is worthless and questioning his/her abilities themselves is really sad and frustrating. Many students come to me and tell that one particular teacher is very boring, doesn't have enough knowledge. One must be aware about own limitations while questioning anyone's capability or ability.

I will like to broaden this debate. Today everywhere teachers are not given due respect. They are always taken for granted both by students as well as parents. And in such context we expect the genius and talented human resource to come into the teaching field. If you demoralize the teachers, it is highly likely that the serious repercussions will be felt everywhere as teachers form the very foundation of society.
