Be future proof !

Every now and then we keep hearing about dynamic future and the changing world. Technology is said to be the biggest driver of change and every domain of life is getting impacted by technology.

'Jobs' is one such domain which is going to be impacted to a very large extent by technology. And this impact will not be limited to mere economic sphere but it has widespread ramifications  to other spheres of human beings like personal sphere, social sphere etc. Therefore understanding this impact on jobs is of vital importance. It is said that technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning etc will replace the human interface and future jobs will be done by machines. This will obsolete the need of human beings forcing many of us to be jobless. This is very gloomy future but its time has certainly come.

In such scenario, becoming future proof is very essential. Honing the better skill sets which can be accommodated in future as well and cannot be replaced by machines, is one such move everyone must  make right now.

Another important thing to do is list down the different aspects of your job and find out which of them can be automated and be done by the machines. Then start gaining mastery over the other aspects which you think cannot be automated or cannot be easily automated or cannot be automated in near future. Then start identifying the areas peripheral to the aspects which you think can be automated. Because though automation can do away with the repetitive jobs, it will generate other jobs peripheral to it, for example when ATM machines were introduced, everyone was quite apprehensive. But slowly related jobs like ATM machine repairing, maintenance, software related issues in ATM, security to ATM centers etc started increasing. Therefore predicting such jobs and honing such skills in advance to avoid last moment panic is very essential.

This will, at least to some extent, mitigate the fear of change and its consequences if any in future.
